Shurr Jr.

Music isn’t just something we play—it’s how we stay connected. Shurr Jr. is an indie rock trio from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, blending raw emotion with anthemic melodies that hit like a happy gut punch. We’re siblings—Nick (vocals/guitar), Kelly (bass), and Frankie (drums)—and making music together is how we process everything from madness to sadness to that strange feeling of voidness in between.

Our newest EP, Red Shelter, is an aggressive experience, and we won’t apologize if you need therapy after. It doesn’t dance around anything—it’s straight to the point, tackling life, loss, and the messy attempt to be honest through it all.

Lyrically, we take a page from Elliott Smith, while sonically, we channel the energy of Charmer, fusing emo vulnerability with the punch of indie rock. Expect layers of emotion, melodic grit, and rhythms that make you feel like you’re both falling apart and coming back together at the same time.

Our love for music is in our blood. It started with our late father, Frank Maxwell, who made his mark in the ‘90s Omaha rock scene. He taught us everything—how to play, how to feel, how to say "yes" to the moment. That’s where our name comes from: he always called Frankie “Jr.,” always said "sure" to whatever came next. Now, we carry that spirit forward—loud, unfiltered, and unapologetically real.

We make music because it keeps us together as siblings—and because someone out there needs to hear it just as much as we need to play it.
